The Faculty of Architecture participating in the International Conference for the Protection and Preservation of the Heritage of the Arab World in Tunisia

In collaboration with the National School of Architecture at the University of Carthage/Tunisia, the Authority of Heritage Experts in the Arab World organised the International Conference for the Protection and Preservation of the Heritage of the Arab World in Tunisia/Hammamet on April 28 and 29. The Faculty of Architecture at Damascus University took part in this event. The participating researchers addressed a number of issues pertaining to heritage site management, preservation and protection plans, and UNESCO's List of World Heritage in Danger.

The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Reda Deeb, said that their participation is compliant with the agreement that the Faculty and the Arab Heritage Experts Association signed. Their participation included three lectures, the first of which was titled the Use of Interactive Media 360 in Advertising for the Site of the Archaeological City of Palmyra in Syria, the second, the Difficulties Confronting the Rehabilitation Works in Southern Syria, and the third, the Cultural Significance and the Preservation of the Sarouja Historical Market in Damascus.

Prof. Rثda Deeb stated that among the recommendations made by the conference were the creation of a committee composed of academic experts from Arab universities' architecture departments in order to safeguard and preserve Arab heritage, the necessity for developing a shared charter for this endeavour, and the establishment of internal guidelines for collaborative work.
